The mythological representation in the new artistic strategies
The role of augmented reality, virtual reality or algorithms in society is increasing. It is enough to check the amount of technology that is being integrated as a habitual element in everyday life.
The objective of our study is based on combining both the usefulness and aesthetic possibilities offered by augmented reality offers with the study of mythology and its dissemination.
In the present work we focus specifically on the mythology about the founding of Madrid. The aim is to establish to what extent it is possible to represent the spirit of myth through new technologies.post-print1374 K
[EN] The Project is framed inside IT Managing. More specifically in software systems developing

Integral development of an innovative concept of dump trailer body for carrying arid materials
The authors develop a new concept of dump trailer vehicle designed to carry arid materials, with a series of advantages and improvements with regard to equivalent structures. For this reason, design criteria and objectives that must have been carried out in executing different stages to reach the final 'optimum' vehicle have been taken into account. From a detailed study of previous performances for this type of vehicle, it is intended to reach a series of objectives involving redesign and modification. The structural lightening and changes must mean the improvement of structural performances, both in terms of rigidity and endurance. The improvement of these variables will make possible the launch of a new product incorporating an improvement over current models. Moreover, the inclusion of sandwich structures in the design of the dump box's floor and door supposes a great novelty, intended to achieve significant weight saving
ArduSim: Accurate and real-time multicopter simulation
[EN] As the popularity and the number of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) increases, new protocols are needed to coordinate UAVs when flying autonomously, and to avoid that these UAVs collide with each other. Directly testing such novel protocols on real UAVs is a complex procedure that requires investing much time, money and research effort. Hence, it becomes necessary to have the possibility to first test different solutions using simulation. Unfortunately, existing tools present significant limitations: some of them only simulate accurately the flight behavior of one UAV, while some other simulators can manage several UAVs simultaneously, but not in real-time, thus loosing accuracy regarding the mobility pattern of the UAV. In this work we address such problem by introducing ArduSim, a novel simulator that allows controlling in soft real-time the flight and communications of multiple UAVs, being the developed protocols directly portable to real devices. The contributions of this work include: (i) the ArduSim simulation platform, which allows realistic simulation and control of multiple UAVs simultaneously, offering functionalities not provided by existing alternatives; (ii) a model for the WiFi communications link between UAVs, based on real experiments, and that is integrated into ArduSim itself; and (iii) a thorough study of the scalability performance of our simulator.
desconocida.pre-print17118 K
Integration of a collaborative robot in a U-shaped production line: a real case study
In lean production environments, such as the U-shaped cells, flexibility is a priority. Therefore, any element that introduces process stiffness is negatively valued. Former studies establish that robotization of tasks in U-shaped cells presents some drawbacks. For instance: it may complicate continuous improvement, prolong changeover time, use a large space or create safety problems for the operators. However, the collaborative robots (CoBots) may change this situation, since they overcome most of the issues previously mentioned. The present study analyses a real case of de-robotization in a traditional assembly line to transform it into a manual U-shaped line. In a second step a CoBot is integrated in the cell replacing one of the workers. This study empirically compares the manufacturing process in these three scenarios. Results in real production conditions show that a U-shape cell assisted by a CoBot increases productivity and reliability while reducing the surface used. These results suggest that collaborative robotics can be integrated in U-shaped production lines and even increase the efficiency of a traditional robotized assembly line.Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
Efficient and coordinated vertical takeoff of UAV swarms
[EN] As we witness the unrelenting growth of the UAV
sector, novel and more sophisticated applications keep emerging
every year, with many more in the horizon. Among these,
applications that require the adoption of UAV swarms are among
the most complex, as deploying swarms requires the interaction
and cooperation of all the UAVs involved, which can become
quite challenging. In this work we specifically focus on the
swarm takeoff procedure for UAVs of the Vertical Take-Off
and Landing (VTOL) type, proposing a heuristic that achieves
reduced computing overhead while introducing near-optimal
assignments of UAV positions in the swarm formation selected.
Such heuristic is complemented by an efficient and collision-free
takeoff approach that relies on adequate ordering and inter-
UAV communications to achieve a sequential phased takeoff. A
large number of experiments using our own ArduSim emulation
platform, which is totally compatible with real drone code,
evidence the improvements achieved in terms of time overhead
and safety when compared to both ideal and agnostic approaches. This work was partially supported by the Ministerio de

Automatic system supporting multicopter swarms with manual guidance
[EN] Currently, there are some scenarios, such as search and rescue operations, where the deployment of manually guided swarms of UAVs can be necessary. In such cases, the pilot's commands are unknown a priori (unpredictable), meaning that the UAVs must respond in near real time to the movements of the leader UAV in order to maintain swarm consistency. In this paper we develop a protocol for the coordination of UAVs in a swarm where the swarm leader is controlled by a real pilot, and the other UAVs must follow it in real time to maintain swarm cohesion. We validate our solution using a realistic simulation software that we developed (ArduSim), testing flights with multiple numbers of UAVs and different swarm configurations. Simulation results show the validity of the proposed swarm coordination protocol, detailing the responsiveness limits of our solution, and finding the minimum distances between UAVs to avoid collisions. This work was partially supported by the "Programa Estatal de Investigation, Desarrollo e Innovation Orientada a Retos de la Sociedad, Proyecto TEC2014-52690-R", Spain, the "Universidad Laica Eloy Alfaro de Manabi," and the "Programa de Becas SENESCYT de la Republica del Ecuador."Fabra Collado, FJ.; Zamora, W.; Masanet, J.; Tavares De Araujo Cesariny Calafate, CM.; Cano, J.; Manzoni, P. Vertical separation vs. independent downstream entry in an electricity network: experimental insights
We analyze a realistic simulation of a complex electricity network. We obtain the data with a series of experimental sessions designed to closely replicate the Spanish Electricity Market. In the experiments reported here we compare the status quo with two alternative regulatory market structures. In one of them, labeled as vertical separation, we impose that power generating firms and electricity distributors operate as independent business groups. In the second, we study the effect of entry by independent end-suppliers. Both alternative scenarios dominate the status quo in terms of market efficiency, but the latter of them dominates the former
